Fence ReplacementMore than 42 miles of Metro District-owned parkway fence winds through the community along major two- and four-lane arterial roads in Highlands Ranch. That's equivalent to the distance from Highlands Ranch to the United States Air Force Academy.

Annually, staff reviews fence inventory to identify sections in need of repair.  Each year staff budgets for painting and repair of a portion of our wood fence inventory.  Staff also determines which sections are beyond repair and need to be replaced. In 2007, the Metro District established a fence replacement program to replace the aging parkway fence in the community. The original, cedar wood fence is replaced with a more durable Trex fence that lasts longer than its wood counterpart and allows for a savings of 65 percent in maintenance costs.

* The fence program only applies to Metro District-owned fence along the parkways, and does not impact individual homeowner's fences. Residential fencing is owned and maintained by the homeowner, and is subject to residential fencing guidelines from the Highlands Ranch Community Association
