Permits
- Groups of five or more in an organized activity in our parks must obtain a park permit. This includes sports practices, workout groups, company picnics, etc.
- The safe use of small stakes (not to exceed 10 inches in length) is allowed in parks. All other staking requires an application and permit issued by the Metro District.

The following are prohibited at Highlands Ranch Metro District parks:
- Littering and dumping
- Fires, except in grills
- Fireworks
- Open carry or discharge of firearms
- Archery, paintball, pellet and BB guns
- Golf
- Model rockets, airplanes and drones
- Camping without a permit
- Harassment of wildlife
- Glass
- Motorized vehicles (Class I and II e-bikes are allowed)
The following additional rules apply at Civic Green Park:
- Dogs are only permitted on perimeter sidewalks and in the Arboretum area
- Bicycles, skateboards and scooters must be dismounted within the park
The following additional rules apply on the front lawns at the Highlands Ranch Mansion:
- The front lawns are open daily from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m., unless closed for a private event
- No dogs
- Bicycles, skateboards and scooters must be dismounted within the park
- No alcohol, except by permit
- No glass containers
Smoke-Free Zones
- Redstone Skate Park is a smoke-free zone. Smoking is prohibited within 50 feet of the skate park.
- There are smoke-free zones at Falcon Park. Smoking is prohibited in the parking lot and within 50 feet of the playground, concessions, shelter and restrooms.
Parks and open space rules are enforced as authorized in Colorado Revised Statutes 18-9-117 and Douglas County Resolution R-999-177.
