Public Works
The Metro District is responsible for the design and construction of much of the infrastructure in Highlands Ranch. Facilities like four and six-lane arterial roads, traffic signals, storm drainage facilities and stream channel stabilization projects have been the responsibility of the Metro District’s Public Works staff. The approved zoning document for Highlands Ranch has enabled the Metro District to estimate the scope and cost of infrastructure to serve the community.
In addition to providing infrastructure, the Metro District’s Public Works staff cooperates with regional agencies like the Douglas County Public Works Department, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD) and the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) to coordinate other transportation projects and services.
