the Ranch: A Community Clean Up Effort
On Saturday, April 5 more than 80 volunteers helped picked up trash in the
natural open space area surrounding Foothills Park. Thanks to their hard
work, four pickup truck loads of trash were collected. Domino's Pizza on
University Blvd. and Garlic Jim's Famous Gourmet Pizza generously donated lunch
for all of our hardworking volunteers. Thanks to everyone who helped make
this event such a success!

Arbor Day
On Saturday, April 21, volunteers helped the Metro District plant more than
20 trees at Cheese Ranch Historic & Natural Area. Because of our
commitment to a strong forestry program, the Metro District has been named a
Tree City USA for the past 20 years. Thanks to the Douglas County
Conservation District and Whole Food Market for donating breakfast to all of our
volunteers.
National Trails Day
On Saturday, May 17, 40 volunteers helped the Metro District build a trail
from Chadsworth Lane to Mountain View Middle School. Volunteers installed water
bars to help prevent erosion, and went above and beyond trail-building duties to
help pick up trash in the area.
Pronghorn Park Dedication
The Metro District's newest park was officially dedicated on Wednesday, June
4.
Residents enjoyed the Park Ranger booth, the Safari Station from The Wildlife
Experience and played numerous VerbZone games. Centennial Water &
Sanitation District also attended the event, and gave demonstrations on their
green practices, as did the greenest school in the area, Stone Mountain
Elementary.

Party at the Park: KidFest
Running, splashing and singing were all part of a day's play at KidFest on
Saturday, June 16. People of all ages watched Sport Stacking, live music
and Jim Jackson's Firehouse Circus. Whole Foods, the Metro District,
Centennial Water, AfterOurs Urgent Care, the Highlands Ranch Library, Knights of
Columbus, Skyhawks Sports Camp, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the
Highlands Ranch Veterans Monument all had entertaining booths and yummy treats.
Thank you to everyone who attended this fun event!
Ice Cream Social
Thanks
again to Safeway, who donated all ice cream, paper products, cones, toppings and
ice for another successful Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 16.
Approximately 2,000 people beat the heat and came to Civic Green Park to eat
some ice cream, sing karaoke and listen to the Highlands Ranch Concert band.
Littleton Fire Rescue had equipment on display on Green Ash Street and the
Knights of Columbus and Garlic Jim's Pizza sold food for hungry attendees.
All proceeds from the event were
donated to the Highlands
Ranch Veterans Monument.
