Who are your wildlife neighbors? What animals can you expect to see here in Highlands Ranch? Touch a coyote pelt, a Great Blue Heron wing, and much more! Learn about your animal neighbors. Take a hike and search for them if weather permits.

What does igneous mean? What about metamorphic? Discover what those words mean and experiment with lots of cool rocks. Make a volcano and find out how they form!

Listen to scary stories, learn about nocturnal creatures, take a night hike, and decorate your own trick-or-treat bag to take home! Come in costume if you like! There will be treats!

Nature Kid’s Club
Ages 6 - 10
The Nature Kid’s Club is designed to foster the enthusiasm and interest that your child may already have for the outdoors and the critters that live here! These programs are also geared toward those who might just need a little introduction to get them excited to explore the nearby natural open space areas. Depending on the theme, the program may include nature walks through the open space, games and/or crafts. A snack will always be provided. Please bring a drink.
These classes will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Highlands Ranch Metro District Parks, Recreation & Open Space Service Center, 3280 Redstone Park Circle unless otherwise noted.
Insectigations
What makes an insect different from a spider? Why do we care about them? Join us and look at insect and spider specimens. Make a bug vacuum, and look for these creepy crawlies in the open space.

Little Nature Explorers
Ages 3-5
These programs are designed with the little ones in mind! Your child will learn about nature through stories, hands-on activities, nature walks and crafts. Children must be accompanied by a parent. A snack will be provided. Please bring a drink. Dress appropriately for outdoor activities.
All classes will be held from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the Highlands Ranch Metro District Parks, Recreation & Open Space Service Center, 3280 Redstone Park Circle.

Feathered Friends
Birds are interesting creatures we see every day. Learn more about feathers, flying and hollow bones! Get to touch real bird wings and feathers and make a feathery craft to take home.

Hunter Safety/
Education Class
The course includes a minimum of 10 hours of classroom instruction and the firing of a firearm. This course covers hunter responsibility, hunting laws and regulations, survival and first aid, primitive hunting (archery and muzzle loading), wildlife identification and field care of game, firearms actions and functioning, and safe gun handling. Students must past written examination and complete qualification shooting with a .22 caliber rifle.
Classroom sessions will be held at the Highlands Ranch Metro District Parks, Recreation & Open Space Service Center, 3280 Redstone Park Circle. Range day is held at the Colorado Division of Wildlife Hunter Education Building. For questions about the content of the class please contact Steve Blue at sblue46@q.com.
Fee includes manuals and ammunition. Firearms, targets, and all safety equipment are provided by the instructor. Classes are open to students ages 10 and older. Parents are also encouraged to attend. Earn your
badges with the Metro District’s parks and recreation staff. The Highlands Ranch Metro District offers a number of programs in which Scouts may earn a badge. Classes are also open to groups in addition to Scouts. Don’t see a particular badge listed? Give us a call with details, and we’ll create a program to fit your troop’s needs. trail to a more active lifestyle. Register now and you will receive a
pedometer, log book, walking suggestions, and a Highlands Ranch Outdoor Guide
that shows all of the great trails and parks where you can get your steps.
