About the Metro District

The Metro District of Highlands Ranch is the local government in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Seven elected board members represent the citizens of Highlands Ranch.

This Web site offers information about the Metro District's programs and services in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Highlands Ranch is a 22,000-acre master-planned community which was founded in 1981. The community boasts a population of 90,013 in 28,859 single family homes and 3,305 apartments. Highlands Ranch is located 12 miles south of Denver in Douglas County and offers a wonderful quality of life and opportunities for an active lifestyle.

Construction of major roads
Installation and maintenance of landscaping adjacent to major roadways
Installation of traffic signals and street lights on major roadways
Construction and maintenance of parks and trails
Youth and adult outdoor recreation and sports programs
Management and maintenance of extensive non-urban natural open space areas
Construction of storm drainage facilities
Emergency and fire protection services through a contract with the City of Littleton
Water and wastewater services through a contract with Centennial Water & Sanitation District
