About the Highlands Ranch Metro District

The Highlands Ranch Metro District is the local government in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Seven elected board members represent the citizens of Highlands Ranch.

This website offers information about the Metro District's programs and services in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Highlands Ranch is a 22,000-acre master-planned community which was founded in 1981. The community has a population of 93,477 in 29,040 single family homes and 3,305 apartments. Highlands Ranch is located 12 miles south of Denver in Douglas County and offers a wonderful quality of life and opportunities for an active lifestyle.

Highlands Ranch has received national recognition for its great quality of life and amenities. It was recognized nationally by Forbes as one of the top places to move in the nation.  In 2010, Business Week also named Highlands Ranch one of the best places to raise kids.
